The Seven Oaks Teachers’ Association is hosting a film event at Void Micro Cinema at Soundstage, 700 Osborne Street in Riverview. The film, The Librarians, is a 2025 documentary which examines the wave of book banning in U.S. public school libraries and the role of librarians in defending intellectual freedom. While the focus is the United States, recent incidents in Manitoba remind us that similar censorship efforts are not beyond our borders. Although the film screens over three dates, LRTA has purchased a block of tickets for the Sunday, January 18, 1pm screening, which will include an after-film panel of special guests (to be confirmed).
LRTA members may purchase tickets at a reduced price of $6.50 each. Tickets are available by contacting ESJ Chair Curtis Lowton at curtis.lowton@lrsd.net.
