New Teacher Induction
The LRTA hosts a New Teacher Induction for teachers that are new to the profession and/or new to the Division along with their school’s Council Representative. The meeting is usually held in October.
A part of the meeting is set aside to review important collective agreement clauses as well as policies and how the Personal Professional Development Fund works. There is a question and answer period in which our new colleagues are encouraged to ask about anything they may be concerned or confused about. This is an excellent opportunity to become more informed and to find out things about our profession from the Association’s view.
There is also a social aspect to the event with greetings and presentations from either the President or Vice President of the Manitoba Teachers’ Society and from the President of the LRTA. Refreshments are served.

Notes
The left of the centre information, refers to the amount of money that an employee receives monthly (current column) and yearly to date (YTD column).
The right of the centre information, refers to the amount of deductions that are taken off of your salary; monthly (current column) and yearly to date (YTD column).
Salary (left of centre)
The teacher’s salary reflects the payroll grid as per the Collective Agreement, adjusted for the dental plan benefit.
The dental rebate reflects YOUR status (Family/ Couple/ Single/ Opt Out). If you have family dental coverage it will NOT appear. If you have opted out, it will reflect the complete value to be added onto your salary based on your FTE. If you do NOT work full time; you may have on the RIGHT side “DENT”. This refers to the dental premiums for part-time employees which is NOT tax free.
The Taxable Benefit is the portion of your Group Life Insurance (MPSEGLIP) paid for by the school division - ½ of the premium for the basic lump sum benefit of 200% of annual earnings.
